Huawei Y6 Pro review

The latest design of Y6 (2019), selfie, sound quality and image quality in the low light are mostly highlighted by Huawei. Huawei also highlights efficiency–here we are dealing with an initial model. Can the Huawei Y6 (2019) live up to its expectations? The Y series Huawei is the first family of the company. You’re going to find it here if you’re looking for a budget smartphone. In this case, no-one could expect too much, but Huawei surprises us exactly with promising high performance and even something that can not be found on any entering smartphone: decent low-light photography.

None of his rivals, including predecessors such as Huawei Y6 (2018), Huawei Y7 (2019), Xiaomi Redmi 7, Honor 8A and Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus (2018), have confirmed that this will happen.

There are modest but rational enhancements as opposed to the predecessor: a wider and more modern monitor without bezels but with a notch and twice as volume.

The fingerprint scanner, a slightly larger monitor, a larger battery and the secondary lens of the main camera which is used to create a bokeh effect are the main differences with the Huawei Y8 (2019), which costs 50 Euro (~$56).

Connectivity

The smartphone comes with the MediaTek quad-core MT6761 processor backed by 2 GB of RAM. Only Huawei’s marketing department knows how this can lead to reported “excellent performance.” This is a standard, practically good smartphone set-up, on the other hand.

Nobody can argue that 32 GB of the stock is available in this price range and that it can be extended by up to 512 GB (with support for ExFat)–quite the opposite. Nonetheless, certain shortcomings can be found in the specifics of the specifications.

Forward-looking buyers will look for NFC and fast AC Wi-Fi in vain. There is also a fingerprint scanner missing in the Y6 (2019) and LTE is limited to Cat 6 (300 Mb / s). But this isn’t the world’s end.

It is more difficult to use a micro USB port; then, it would have been nice to finally start looking at Type-C in the entry-level range. The 3.5 mm jack for standard headphones, however, serves a significant number of users.

Software

Although the lower price range in 2019 still lacks Type-C, producers have over time recognized that an up-to-date operating system should also be available at low prices. To this point, Huawei launched Android 9 Pie on the Y6 (2019) and its EMUI 9.0.1 custom user interface incorporated its own features.

That allows, for example, the user without a drawer and also gives access to further Huawei applications like Designs. This can be disabled. For example. Sadly, Huawei didn’t opt for a certification Widevine-L1 so HD resolution can not allow videos to be streamed. Nonetheless, the resolution of the display is just 720p+.

Cameras

A 13 MP main camera and an 8-MP front camera are used in the Huawei J6 (2019). No clots and whistles like a dual camera or a 3-camera setup are available.

The maximum aperture of f/1.8 of the single main camera is no longer a highlight, which makes the manufacturer’s assertion that he is even more shocking when the lighting is low. The supplier has no additional features, which could have contributed to it–so where does the good quality come from?

The output of the picture is nothing but decent in low light. The sharpness of the picture falls abysmally, and noise is over–as you imagine on a smartphone worth EUR 150 (~$168).

In this respect, quality is not the end of the world, but you should also deliver quality if you promise Quality. Huawei struggled with respect to Y6 (2019), sadly. Sadly.

Display

The LCD is 6.1 inches and supports1560x720 pixels on the Huawei Y6 in 2019. This leads to only about 280 pixels per inch, but most users notice a sharpness shortage by means of a lens. The brightness of a 485 cd / m2 entrance level is good and the distribution of light is sufficiently uniform.

In the Y6 (2019) black degree and contrast are also slightly better than its 2018 predecessor. In contrast with its direct competition, it performs outstanding.

The current model still manages to impress even when it comes to grayscales. There are only a few color quality defects. Some consumers would, however, only note this when comparing the device to one with a much better display.

Battery

The Huawei Y6 battery (2019) has a power of 3020 mAh, which takes account of the rest of the hardware. Power consumption is, however, more critical and the new Y6 is a major step forward in comparison with the model last year.

Demand falls on the average by almost 190% in idle demand and by over 80% in loads. In contrast to its competitors, the Y6 (2019) is also very strong.

Since long battery life also comes from considerably larger batteries, the benefit seen in terms of energy consumption must be relativized.

In this area, though, the entry-level model is good too-compared to the previous model, our Wi-Fi test allowed the new smartphone to last 1,5 hours longer.

Regular users may have to load the computer on average every two days. Models with stronger batteries, like the Y7 (2019), give an even better life for batteries.

Verdict

If this is insufficient, the Huawei Y6 (2019) will do so because of unrealistic marketing expectations from the manufacturer. The smartphone at entry-level offers neither excellent performance nor attractive photography. But because it’s a mobile entry-level, it doesn’t have to. In accordance with the price level of about 150 Euro (~$168), the latest Y6 is a reasonable smartphone. Nevertheless, this system is not ideal for gamers.

It is sleek, with optional synthetic leather on the back, well-built and it fits well into the side, it offers something else. However, a good monitor has a large-scale bezel-less nature, an inclination, excellent daylight and also sufficient power to make daily use of the device smoothly. The absence of a fingerprint scanner and the use of the old micro USB port was unfortunate. The program is up-to-date in trade.
